Somehow I have been working all weekend and still have no connection from one side of perkins to the other.  I even cancelled my trip to Austin.  $@%&!!!!!!

I am making another diary entry, sorry.  I am sort of stuck, so I am just moving things around.

So while walking around today I changed my strategy.  I have nothing but this update to give, so now back to the drawing board.

My strategy is destination.  I am trying to turn most of the site into multi-use.  I am also incorporating the proposed light rail passenger train by putting in a train station.  Parking has become an issue so I am putting in some parking structures under I-10  and by the train station.  To further address the parking issue I am thinking of widening the roads on site by 6-8ft on either side to allow for parallel parking and also to slow down traffic on perkins. Also, I am experimenting with connecting roads to various places and maybe taking out or rebuilding the perkins bridge.  To connect the site to the neighborhood across the railroad tracks there will be pedestrian tunnels that go under the track.  In the open spaces on site will be the sonic forest (the interactive sound and light environment).  I am trying to figure out what besides the train station, sonic forest, and multi-use zoning will make this place a destination.  I am leaning towards a building that is for the public, it will be fun, innovative and educate the public about green buildings and self sustaining communities.  It seems like I have too many ideas but there are a lot of issues that need solutions with my strategy.
